The Account page holds what belongs to you and not to one catalogue: your name, your plan, the emails the Workspace sends and closing your account. What belongs to the workspace, such as its societies and publisher details, is under **Settings**.

## Open your account

The account button is at the right-hand end of the top bar. It shows your initials and, on a wider screen, your first name. Until you have given a name it reads **Account**. Press it to open a menu with your name and email address at the top, then three choices:

- **Profile** opens the Account page.
- **Plan and billing** opens the same page at the card of that name.
- **Sign out** signs you out.

The Account page takes the catalogue's place on the screen, so the four tabs and the **Search** button are not shown while it is open. **Back to catalogue** returns you to where you were.

## Change your name

1. Open the account menu and choose **Profile**.
2. On the **Profile** card, type your **First name** and **Last name**. Both are needed.
3. Press **Save profile**. It stays off until you have changed one of them.

The card says **Profile saved**, and the account button shows your new initials and first name straight away.

The card also shows the email address you sign in with. The Workspace finds your workspace by that address, so you cannot change it here. The card gives the address to email if it needs changing.

## Your plan

The **Plan and billing** card shows the workspace's name and its plan. During the beta the plan reads **Free beta**. Below that are the number of works you have saved out of the most the account may hold, with the link **ask for more**, the day the workspace was opened and the day you accepted the beta offer. The beta offer is printed in full under them.

If you have more than one workspace, this card is about the one chosen in **Workspace**.

## Emails the Workspace sends

The **Emails** card lists each email the Workspace sends to your address and why, and says that none of it is marketing. One is the **Unused-workspace warning**, sent to a workspace's owner once it has gone unused for 11 months. The card says the workspace is deleted 30 days later unless someone signs in, and that this email cannot be turned off.

## Close your account

The last card, **Close your account**, is shown only to the workspace's owner. See [Close your account](/docs/workspace/settings/close-your-account).

## If something goes wrong

- **The choices in the account menu are greyed out.** You have unsaved changes, or a save is under way. Save or close what you are working on first.
- **The menu offers only **Sign out**.** Your account has no workspace yet, so there is no Account page to open.
- ****Save profile** stays switched off.** Both names are needed, and one of them must differ from what is saved.
