Every save of a work is kept as a version, and nothing is overwritten. Use the versions to see what changed and to go back. You can also undo an import and bring back works you deleted.

## See the saved versions

1. Open a saved work in the editor.
2. Below the form, press **View saved versions**.
3. **Saved versions** lists them, newest first, as **Version** and a number with the title and the time. Each says what changed since the one before, such as a title, or a count of writers going from one to two. A save with no changes says so. A fold, **Exact saved data for version**, holds everything in that version.

There is no button that undoes a single edit once it is saved. To go back, restore an earlier version. Edits you have not saved are kept in a recovery copy. See [Edit a work](/docs/workspace/catalogue/edit-a-work).

Prepared files and responses keep their own history. See [What the statuses mean](/docs/workspace/catalogue/statuses).

## Restore an earlier version

1. In **Saved versions**, press **Restore version** and a number on an older version. Owners and editors only. It stays switched off while you have unsaved changes, a save is running or a newer version conflicts.
2. The window **Restore version** and the number asks you to confirm. It explains that the saved information is copied into a new version, and that the current version and every earlier one stay in history.
3. Press **Restore version** and the number **as a new version**, or **Keep current version** to stop.

The bar then says **Restored version** and the new version number.

## Undo an import

Open the import from **Saved imports**. If it added works, the panel **Undo this import** says how many. Press it and confirm in **Confirm undo**. It deletes the works the import added. Changes it made to works you already had stay, and each work's history shows them. See [Review an import before saving](/docs/workspace/add-works/review).

## Find and restore deleted works

Deleting a work, from the list or by undoing an import, takes it out of every catalogue and stops it counting towards your limit. Files you prepared or sent before keep their record. See [Edit many works at once](/docs/workspace/catalogue/edit-many).

Deleted works are reached only from All catalogues. They are not listed inside a single catalogue.

1. In the catalogue chooser at the top of **Catalogue**, pick **All catalogues**.
2. Scroll below the list to **Deleted works**, which shows a count, and open it. It appears only once you have deleted something.
3. Press **Restore** beside a work. For several, tick them, or tick **Select all**, then press the **Restore** button above the list, which counts the works you ticked.

A restored work returns to your catalogues and counts towards your limit again. Each entry shows the day it was deleted. The first page holds the most recent; **Show more** loads the rest. Works restore 200 at a time. If a restore fails, the screen gives the reason, and for more than 200 works it also says how many were restored. If you can only look, the list has no restore buttons.
