Use registration history for registrations made before TrackForge or outside it. You upload the files you already have. TrackForge keeps them as a record, matches their works to works you have saved, and shows you where a society holds something different from your catalogue.

These files are a record. TrackForge did not send them, they do not become a TrackForge delivery, and uploading them does not add works to your catalogue.

## Before you start

- Only owners and editors can upload.
- Have your [CWR](/docs/cwr/glossary#cwr) 2.1 files, society responses (ACK), ISW identifier notifications, or PRS agreement work-list JSON captures. You can upload them one by one or in a zip. Other societies' work-list formats are not supported yet.
- To find works a society holds differently from your catalogue, upload two files together: the CWR file you registered the works with, and the society's response (ACK) that accepted it. A CWR file on its own is matched to your works but gives nothing from the society to compare with, and a work list does not carry shares.

## Steps

1. Choose **Files and responses**, then the tab **Registration history**. On Today, **Bring in old files and replies** opens the same place.
2. In the card **Add supplied files**, choose your files in **History files**. The types are `.zip`, `.v21`, `.ack` and `.json`. The card says: "Up to 20 files, 5 MiB per file and 25 MiB per batch."
3. Leave **Work reference source** alone, under **Matching settings**, unless you imported your catalogue under a different source name.
4. Press **Upload supplied history**.

## What you will see

A box headed **What the upload found** says how many files were read and kept, with counts for **Files read**, **Works matched**, **Not matched yet** and, if there are any, **Registered differently**. Under **What needs you**:

- "N works registered differently from your saved details", with a button that starts **Review** and ends "that work" or "those works". See [Works registered differently](/docs/workspace/files/registered-differently).
- "N works in these files not matched to a saved work yet", with a button that starts **Match** and ends "it" or "them". You can leave these if the works are not in this catalogue.
- **Nothing here needs you.** when there is nothing to do.

A file in a format TrackForge does not read is kept, and the box says so. If a file was already held, nothing is added for it. If a file is a society's reply to a file you recorded as sent, the box says so and **Review society response** opens that file.

The **Files** card lists everything held, with the kind (society response, CWR source, ISWC notification or society work list) and whether it was read. Choose a file to see its works in a table. **In your catalogue** says whether each is linked to a saved work, and **Differences** counts where the file and your saved work disagree. Press **Review** on a row to open that work in a window over the table. For a work that is not linked, type its title in **Find a saved work** there and press **Search**. Then press the button that reads **Link** and the title of the right work. **Download original file** gives the file back.

For a CWR file with works that are not in your catalogue, **Add missing works from this file** opens an import review where you choose what to save. See [Review an import before saving](/docs/workspace/add-works/review). Then press **Link again after adding**. For a work list, **Match confirmed society IDs** does the matching again.

## If something goes wrong

- **The upload button is off.** Choose at least one file first.
- **A file says it was kept but not read.** TrackForge reads CWR 2.1 registrations, ACK responses, ISW notifications and PRS work-list captures. Ask whoever sent it for a CWR 2.1 file.

To download a report on the whole catalogue across all societies, open the menu **Registration health…** in the Catalogue header. It offers **Excel summary and full detail** and **PDF summary with charts**.
