The Workspace has help in several places. Guides and explanations open in a new tab, so you keep your place.

## Help for the page you are on

The link **Help for this page** in the header opens the manual page for the part of the Workspace that is open. An open saved work opens [Edit a work](/docs/workspace/catalogue/edit-a-work), a prepared file opens [Download, send and record](/docs/workspace/files/send), **Settings** opens [Publisher details](/docs/workspace/settings/publisher-details), and the Account page opens [Your account](/docs/workspace/account).

The header links are not shown on a phone-width screen. Use the footer link **Help and guides** there. It opens the front page of the documentation, with the Workspace manual and the [CWR reference](/docs/cwr/).

## Help with setting up

Each of the five steps on the **Get set up** card has a link, **How this works**, even when the step is done or you can only look. It opens the page for that step. [Your first file in five steps](/docs/workspace/start-here) covers the whole card.

## Search

Press **Search** in the header, or Ctrl+K (⌘K on a Mac), to open the search box. On a phone-width screen the button shows a magnifying glass alone. Type to go to a section, find a work by title, work reference or ISWC, or search the help. Results come in three groups:

- **Go to** lists the sections of the open catalogue. An owner or editor also sees **Add a work** and **Import works**.
- **Works in this catalogue** lists up to eight works. It searches from two characters, and only in the catalogue that is open. Type more of the title to narrow it.
- **Help** lists the best six matches among the pages and headings of these docs. A help result opens in a new tab. If the list of help pages cannot be loaded, the group holds one item, **Open the docs**, which opens the front page of the documentation.

![The search box open over Today with the letters lan typed, listing a work and some help pages below.](/docs/img/workspace/search-box.png)

Use the arrow keys and Enter to choose, and Escape to close the box. On **All catalogues** the box lists your catalogues under **Open a catalogue** in place of the first two groups.

While you have unsaved changes or a save is under way, the box says to finish what you are doing on the page first. Until then the sections and works are shown but cannot be chosen, and only the help can be opened. The shortcut does nothing while a dialog is open.

## Help beside a field

Some fields have a small help button, shown as an "i", beside the label. Its name starts "Help:", for example "Help: sender name" beside **Publisher name (as registered)** in **Settings**. Point at it to read the tip. On a touch screen, press it. Press it again, press Escape or press elsewhere to close the tip.

Tab skips the button, so it moves from field to field. To read a field's tip from the keyboard, press F1 or Alt+/ while the cursor is in the field. The tip opens and the cursor stays put. A field with no tip does nothing.

## Help with a problem or a response

- **What this means** sits beside a problem that the CWR reference explains: on a work's **To do** panel, among the checks on a prepared file, and in the panel **What is holding your works up**. It opens that problem in [Problems and fixes](/docs/cwr/problems-and-fixes). A problem with no explanation has no link.
- **How to read a response** sits in the notice on a society's response that reports what the society said. It opens [Understand a response](/docs/workspace/files/understand-a-response).

## Email TrackForge

- **Contact support**, in the header and the footer, opens an email to support@trackforge.studio in your email program.
- When you have used all the works your account allows, the badge **Full** appears under the **Works** meter with a link, **ask for more**. It opens an email to support@trackforge.studio with the subject "More works for my workspace". See [Finding your way around](/docs/workspace/finding-your-way).

## If something goes wrong

- **A work, a file or a response shows a problem you do not understand.** Choose **What this means** beside it, or look the message up in [Problems and fixes](/docs/cwr/problems-and-fixes). For what a society said about a file, see [Understand a response](/docs/workspace/files/understand-a-response).
- **A button is switched off, or the screen does not do what you expect.** Choose **Help for this page**. It opens the manual page for that screen, and most pages end with their own list of what can go wrong and what to do.
- **You cannot find how to do something.** Open **Search** and type what you are trying to do.
- **A screen will not load, or shows an error.** Reload the page. If it happens again, choose **Contact support** and say which catalogue and work you had open, what you pressed and what the screen said.
