title: Close your account
description: "Close your workspace as its owner: what the screen says will happen, what you type to confirm, and what you see afterwards."
keywords: [close account, close workspace, delete account, owner, cancel account, account page]
---

Closing your account closes the workspace you have open. Only the workspace's owner can do it. The card that does it is the last one on the Account page, which you open from the account button at the right-hand end of the top bar.

## Before you start

- You must be the owner. For an editor or anyone who can only look, the card is not shown at all. Ask the owner.
- If you have more than one workspace, the card belongs to the one chosen in **Workspace**. Closing affects only that one.
- The card advises you to download anything you want to keep first. See [Downloads and your data](/docs/workspace/help/your-data).

## Steps

1. Press the account button, choose **Profile** and scroll to the card **Close your account**.
2. Read what it says. Closing stops access to this workspace straight away. After 30 days TrackForge permanently deletes everything in it: catalogues, works, imports, prepared files, delivery records and society responses.
3. Press **Close account…**. A window opens, asking whether to close the workspace by name. It repeats that access stops straight away and that everything is permanently deleted after 30 days. Its box is labelled with an instruction to type the workspace's name to confirm.
4. Type that name. Capital letters and spaces at either end do not matter.
5. Press **Close account**, the button without the dots. It stays off until what you typed matches. **Keep account** shuts the window and closes nothing.

## What you will see

The button reads **Closing…** while it works. The page then reloads and the workspace's screens are replaced by a card headed with the workspace's name and **is closed**. It says when everything in the workspace will be permanently deleted, and that to reopen it before then you email support@trackforge.studio.

That address is also the one the first card gives for changing your mind within the 30 days. The card says nothing more about what happens next. For any other question, see [Getting help](/docs/workspace/help/).

## If something goes wrong

- ****Close account** stays switched off.** What you typed does not yet match the workspace's name. Check it against the name in the label.
- **A message appears in the window.** It gives the reason, and the page does not reload.
- **There is no **Close your account** card.** You are not the owner of the workspace that is open. If you have several workspaces, check the **Workspace** chooser. Otherwise ask the owner.
- **You have changed your mind.** Email support@trackforge.studio within the 30 days the card names.
