title: Change the workspace's name
description: "Rename your workspace as its owner, and see where the name is shown and what it is used for."
keywords: [workspace name, rename workspace, business name, owner, settings]
---

The workspace's name is shown at the top of the page and in emails about the workspace. It starts as the business name you gave when the workspace was created, and its owner can change it. Your CWR files use your publisher details, not this name.

## Before you start

- You must be the owner. For an editor or anyone who can only look, the card is not shown at all. Ask the owner.
- If you have more than one workspace, the card belongs to the one chosen in **Workspace**.

## Steps

1. Open **Settings** and scroll to the card **Workspace name**, at the foot of the page.
2. Type the new name in the box.
3. Press **Save name**. It stays off while the box is empty or holds the name already saved.

## What you will see

The button reads **Saving…** while it works. The card then says **Workspace name saved**, and the name at the top of the page changes straight away.

The name is also what you type to confirm closing your account. After a change, that window asks for the new name. See [Close your account](/docs/workspace/settings/close-your-account).

## If something goes wrong

- **There is no **Workspace name** card.** You are not the owner of the workspace that is open. If you have several workspaces, check the **Workspace** chooser. Otherwise ask the owner.
- ****Save name** stays switched off.** The box is empty, or the name is the same as the one saved.
- **A message appears under the box.** It gives the reason, and the name is not changed.
